Lee speaks one tongue at home and one more outside with friends, at the college or at work.

Game of Thrones takes place on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos in a setting that very much resembles the Middle Ages of Earth — though, as in many fantasy novels, there’s no specific correlation to Earth history. While the story contains common fantasy elements, such as swordplay, magic, and fantastical creatures like dragons, those elements are downplayed in favor of political intrigue and human drama.

The show depicts the three core storylines of the book series. The first is the continuing civil war between the various houses of Westeros, each vying for the Iron Throne and control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros — hence, the name Game of Thrones. The three principle houses involved in this civil war are the Starks of Winterfell, the Lannisters of Casterly Rock, and the Baratheons of Dragonstone. At the start of the series, the Baratheons control the Iron Throne. However, with the death of King Robert Baratheon, the Lannisters seize power when Robert’s wife CerseiLannister becomes queen-regent after her son assumes the throne; Cersei’s brother, TyrionLannister, becomes their chief advisor. After that, many of the other houses rise up to fight Lannister control and claim their own right to the Iron Throne.

The second storyline takes place in Essos, a harsh land of mostly desert. DaenerysTargaryen, the exiled daughter and last surviving heir to House Targaryen (which used to rule the Seven Kingdoms before the Baratheons came to power), seeks to build an army and return to Westeros to reclaim the Iron Throne. At first sold into marriage to the Dothraki tribal leader KhalDrogo by her older brother (who was later killed), Daenerys has become a powerful queen and has in her possession three dragons — a species thought instinct since the rule of the Targaryens. With her dragons and the massive army she’s building, Daenerys plans to cross the Narrow Sea, which separates the two continents, and defeat those who deposed and killed her father.

The third storyline takes place in the Northern part of Westeros at the massive ice structure called the Wall, which protects the southern lands from the “wildling” humans and supernatural creatures (such as White Walkers) that live “beyond the Wall.” Jon Snow, the illegitimate son of Ned Stark (head of House Stark) enlists with the Night’s Watch, the small army stationed at the Wall that is charged with protecting the southern lands. With the approach of a long winter, the Wall and the Night’s Watch are under siege from wildling invaders who seek to overtake the Seven Kingdoms. What’s happening at the Wall is mostly unknown to the rest of Westeros, and the peoples of the Seven Kingdoms are unprepared for the coming threat.

Hyo Lee Hnetinka theory for the white walkers

What's Skroth for SPOILERS?! They may spring like newly-risen wights within this list. So brace yourself, Winter Is Here! Seriously, catch up to the very latest episode before warging forward! 

Viewers learned in "The Door" that the Children of the Forest created the White Walkers!! Let that sink in for a second. Bran learns this as he green dreams with the Three-Eyed Raven. Why? Because they needed protection from men as they killed the CotF and cut down their weirwood trees. Yeah, that happened. 

Also, let’s hear it for Old Nan. Without her, we wouldn’t have hardly any White Walker Game of Thrones theories. She was the Google of her time, recounting horrifying tales to the Stark children that would later serve as real-life guides and give clues about the future of House Stark and the coming war with the White Walkers. 

Most White Walker theories are tied directly to the Starks, with some believing that the Starks are descendants of the White Walkers, AKA the Others. One of the more wildly popular White Walker fan theories shuddered back to life when Melisandre (with the possible help of Ghost and other unknown factors) raised Jon Snow from the dead. His gasping for breath on the table certainly unearthed a long-held theory that the Lord Commander will become the next Night King. At the very least it’s one of those irresistible notions to fill in the days between episodes until the showrunners prove us right or wrong. 
Here’s another notion for you. What if the White Walkers are the good guys and they built the Wall to keep men out and prevent them from destroying what’s left of the giants, unicorns, and other creatures not widely accepted south of the Wall? What if they bring the Long Night to stop man (and woman) in their violent pursuit of the Iron Throne and their intolerance for the Others? Seems less like a theory now. 

Let’s look at some popular White Walker fan theories and see which ones are worthy of the Night’s King’s frosty touch and speak of them in whispered Skroth, the language of the White Walkers.

In a passage of A Dance with Dragons, Leaf explains that it’s man that is the problem. She tells Bran, “That was in the dawn of days, when our sun was rising. Now it sinks, and this is our long dwindling. The giants are almost gone as well, they who were our bane and our brothers. The great lions of the western hills have been slain, the unicorns all but gone, the mammoths down to a few hundred. The direwolves will outlast us all, but their time will come as well. In the world that men have made, there is no room for them, or us.” 

So are the White Walkers doing the world a favor and reducing the numbers of men so the giants, unicorns, and others can return? WunWun is now a white walker!

Lee Hnetinka’s opinion about GOT season 1

Season 1 spans a period of several months on a world where the seasons last for years at a time. The action begins in the unified Seven Kingdoms of Westeros as the long summer ends and winter draws near. Lord Eddard Stark is asked by his old friend, King Robert Baratheon, to serve as the Hand of the King following the death of the previous incumbent, Eddard's mentor Jon Arryn. Eddard is reluctant but receives intelligence suggesting that Jon was murdered. Eddard accepts Robert's offer, planning to use his position and authority to investigate the alleged murder.

Meanwhile, on the eastern continent of Essos, the exiled children of House Targaryen, which Robert destroyed to claim the throne, are plotting to return to Westeros and unseat the 'usurper'. To this end, ViserysTargaryen arranges the marriage of his sister Daenerys to KhalDrogo, the leader of 40,000 Dothraki warriors, in return for the use of his warriors in invading Westeros. For her part, Daenerys just wants to find a safe refuge far away from King Robert's assassins and her brother's scheming ambition.

Finally, on the northern-most border of the Seven Kingdoms the sworn brothers of the Night's Watch guard the Wall, a 300-mile-long colossal fortification of ice which has stood for thousands of years. The Watch defends the Wall against the depredations of the lawless wildlings who live beyond, but rumor speaks of a new threat arising in the lands of perpetual winter.

Season 3 of Game of Thrones was commissioned on April 10, 2012, following a major increase in audience figures between the first two seasons.It consists of ten episodes and began filming on July 10, 2012. It concluded filming on November 24, 2012.David Benioff and D.B. Weiss returned as executive producers and show runners.

The season premiered on March 31, 2013.

Season 3 is mostly based on the first half of A Storm of Swords, the third book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin.

Season 3 spans several months on a world where the seasons can last for years at a time. Autumn has fallen across the world, with winter not far behind. The people should be preparing for years of snow and ice, but the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros instead remain gripped by civil war. Would-be king RenlyBaratheon has been assassinated, altering the alliances in the war. The cruel boy-king JoffreyBaratheon has won a great victory by securing an alliance with House Tyrell, with his supporters defeating his uncle Stannis in an epic battle. Joffrey now commands the largest armies in the realm and his triumph appears inevitable.

King Robb Stark remains in the field, however his homeland, the North, is partially under ironborn occupation. Robb needs to decide on a course of action to win an overall victory. He must also win back the allegiance of House Frey, whom he has offended by breaking his marriage pact with them. King Robb has won every battle he has fought, but as with old King Robert, the Starks will have to see if good soldiers make good kings.

StannisBaratheon may be defeated and most of his army destroyed or scattered, but he is not out of the fight yet. Having retreated to his headquarters on Dragonstoneisland with his handful of surviving soldiers, Stannis' status as the last legitimate heir to his older brother Robert still casts a shadow over Joffrey's claim to the throne. With the priestess Melisandre at his side, Stannis can still influence the course of the war by striking where least expected.

The lives of many others still hang in the balance. Bran Stark and his protectors must cross the frozen wastelands of the North to reach the Wall, while Arya must brave the war-torn Riverlands in search of her mother and brother. Brienne of Tarth also has the thankless task of escorting the captive Jaime Lannister home across hundreds of miles of battlefields and carnage. TheonGreyjoy must face the consequences of his actions at Winterfell. And in King's Landing both TyrionLannister and Sansa Stark must brave the currents of a much more dangerous court in order to survive.

On the eastern continent, DaenerysTargaryen has fled the political viper-pit of Qarth. Her dragons are growing and her fame is spreading, but to take the Iron Throne she will need supporters and an army. Both may be found in the corrupt cities of Slaver's Bay... for a price.

Beyond the Wall, the White Walkers are on the move, threatening both the Seven Kingdoms and the lands of the Free Folk. While the Night's Watch faces the threat of the White Walkers in the field, Jon Snow must infiltrate the wildling army of ManceRayder and discover the King-Beyond-the-Wall's plans.

 Production

The series again filmed primarily in Northern Ireland,[6] and also returned to Iceland and Croatia. The production also added Morocco to the locations roster. The production expanded to three production units, adding a new "Raven" unit to the existing "Dragon" and "Wolf" units.

Production in Croatia continued to use the walled medieval city of Dubrovnik to film external scenes for King's Landing, and Iceland was again used to film scenes set in the frozen lands that Jon Snow and the Night's Watch encounter Beyond the Wall. Production in the new location of Morocco filmed DaenerysTargaryen's new storyline in Slaver's Bay as well as some King's Landing exterior shots.

The scene from the episode "The Bear and the Maiden Fair" during which Brienne of Tarth is thrown into a bear pit at Harrenhal involved a real trained stunt bear, Bart the Bear. Due to are various legal restrictions on international transport of large animals such as bears, parts of this scene were technically filmed in Los Angeles in the United States.[9] A duplicate of the bear pit set was created in a Los Angeles studio parking lot: only Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) and NikolajCoster-Waldau (Jaime) were brought in to film, with no extras. Both actually did film with the bear in the set.[10]

Filming in Season 1 included locations in Northern Ireland and Malta, but filming did not return to Malta in subsequent seasons. The Targaryen storyline in Pentos was filmed in the Maltese presidential palace (as well as a few other scenes for King's Landing). Maltese officials were reportedly annoyed that a nude scene was filmed in the palace (Daenerys's bath in the first episode), which may have influenced why production did not return to that country.

Season 2 expanded to film in Croatia and Iceland, and filming continued in those two countries through Season 3 and Season 4. In Season 3 production expanded to Morocco, but did not return to Morocco for Season 4.

The result is that the production on Season 3 was a monumental, international effort involving units and cast members which were filming simultaneously in four separate countries. The series has filmed in five countries overall, but filming in Malta ended before production expanded to the other three countries. This number increases to six if one counts the footage of the actor-bear used in Season 3. Because filming did not return to Morocco in Season 4, this makes Season 3 the most widespread international filming project that the TV series has engaged in to date.
